Mood board for Delirium

This is our mood board for our trailer opening delirium which showcases a variety of images, colours and imaginative themes that all precisely link to our trailer opening.

This is a very dark hand with a central composition in the picture it is hovering over a foggy area. we picked this image because it shows a very dark atmosphere which was something we wanted to reflect in our trailer opening for Delirium, we hope to do this by using low key lighting and carefully timed fade to black cuts which we think will keep our audience on edge throughout the trailer. In addition to the micro elements above we also intend to use pathetic fallacy to show our audience the intense mood of our trailer.

The following picture above was very easy to choose for our thriller themed mood board. It features a shallow focus that is zoomed in on the gun with the barrel clearly seen. A handgun is a very significant prop in any thriller and is standard iconography of the genre. In terms of the background information there is also stereotypical cinematography for a thriller or action film. This is emphasised by the rundown building in the distance. The shot also loosely focuses on the male with a soft focus revealing his hand and his face whilst covering his eyes. his head is covered by a hood so this is indicative to the audience that he is a working class criminal in a poverty stricken area. At the top of the image there is a phased out set of police lights that connote the influence of the police force in thriller and action themed titles. This is significantly linked to our film trailer because our main character is also acting outside of the law which will be revealed once our trailer is completed and available for viewing.

This particular snap is particularly interesting, The eye is from the front cover of the infamous silence of the lambs which suggests that our film will involve suspenseful moments that will correlate to the sequences in silence of the lambs. In addition to that image there is a cropped image of a house. This is a very large house isolated in a dark setting. For me this picture perfectly represents myself and my groups vision as to what our trailer should look like: low-key lighting, naturally grim weather which creates pathetic fallacy in tandem with verisimilitude and a general sense of eeriness and uncertainty.

The final section of our mood board focuses on Inception: the ingenious blockbuster directed by |Christopher Nolan and a staircase leading up to a rundown area of France. Inception being a science fiction epic features many scenes that are unexplainable, especially for sound. Many scenes in the film feature non diegetic sound in the form of heavy electronic pulses. This is something we have added to our cuts in our trailer in order to build tension and to entice our viewers. In addition to sound, Inception also explains that through dreams reality is distorted to the persons unconscious mind. This distortion of reality will be applied to our lead character who's perception of reality becomes distorted due to his alcoholism and the grief over a family members death. This will cause his behaviour to become irrational.
